My oldest is now 22, and I still have some Melissa and Doug’s puzzles that I’m saving for when we have grandkids (btw that should be many many many years from now LOL he is not ready for that yet, neither are we). We have one with the states, but each piece is a state, and that helped all 3 of my kids learn the states when they were little, and like I said before, they held up great throughout those learning years.
